We interviewed many adult siblings and the heartbreaking truth is that they often do not feel very connected to their disabled siblings. They all had to leave restaurants before the food even arrived, shows right when it got interesting, they had to forgo extra-curricular activities and vacations. Many are conflicted; feeling anger and resentment while also knowing that there is simply no choice but to invest every dollar and spare minute into helping their disabled sibling. Some of them tearfully shared that once their parents are gone, they won't even visit anymore. We aim to give these children a safe place where they can express all of their feelings. They often end up supporting one another and for many it is the highlight of their week. They feel heard, seen, and let's not forget that horses are also really cool. They finally have something that is special and just for them. We teach them how horses communicate non-verbally. We don't even try to draw any parallels (but they do). We show them that speech is only one aspect of communication and as a result, many develop a much closer and stronger bond with their disabled sibling. We use cooperative care with all the animals and the positive interactions they learn to foster with the animals at Little Creek are life altering for the entire family dynamics. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eThis is our most popular program and siblings can enroll for a block of four sessions each time their name comes up on the waiting list.
